Overnight Oat Mix

Some people like to wake up before sunrise while some prefer to sleep in. Some people exercise first thing, or get their kids ready for school, while others watch TV to wake up.

Overnight oats are like morning routines: it’s a very personal business, so we kept our overnight oats mix simple. Add your favorite milk or milk alternative, add a sweetener, add fruits, add nuts, or nut butter.

Whatever your version of an easy morning is, that’s fine with us.

It’s not chemistry, it’s breakfast

  • The high fiber count in oats can improve digestive health and (citing the FDA here) has been associated with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease. Oats are the perfect baseline for breakfast because they fill you up and don’t digest too quickly, so you stay full until lunch.

Rolled oats
  • All of that same good stuff as with rolled oats. Did you know that oats are oats? The difference here is really just how they’re processed. The benefit, not a health thing so much as enjoyment, being that the steel cut addition gives our overnight oats a texture that isn’t just mush.

  • Other than just being fun little pops of joy, chia seeds are absolutely packed with goodness. Protein, fiber, antioxidants, carbohydrates, and fats, the good kind of fats, the kind of fats that has chia seeds being recommended by the National Institutes of Health.

  • Forget what we said about oats being oats. In this case ground flax (quoting the Mayo Clinic, now) actually is easier to digest than flax seeds, so your body gets the full benefits: more fiber, more omega-3 fatty acids, a generally lauded compound called lignans. More goodness.

Like it cold?

This is the traditional application of overnight oats. The form it arrives in out of your fridge. The directions are so simple we put them on our bag, and on our website’s home page. Here it is one more time, for good measure:

  1. Scoop our your preferred serving size

  2. Cover with milk

  3. Let your oats sit overnight

  4. Enjoy

Like it hot?

You have a couple of options here.

Either: Take your overnight oats out of the fridge and microwave them for 45 seconds, give or take.

Or: Put them in a pot over low heat to bring them up to temperature. If you do this, you might add a little extra of whatever milk or water you let them sit in overnight, to account for evaporation.
